This Month's Meeting
Personal Paths & Career Development
Timothy P. Snyder, CFRE
Senior Vice President
Brakeley Briscoe
February 21, 2012
What color is your parachute? Where are you headed, professionally speaking? How do you know that you are on the right pathway to success? Do you have a personal mission statement? Do you track, analyze and assess your own metrics? Do you have a personal strategic plan?
The February educational session will build upon our two 2011 Polk County AFP presentations on the Leadership Triad and Teamwork. However, this session will go in the other direction and address our Personal Paths and Career Development. We will explore aspects of professional commitment to the field of philanthropy and development of a personal work ethic that is beyond the influence of your employer or volunteer leaders. Beginning with a personal code of conduct and mission, we will explore ways to build a strategic outlook and plan for your personal performance. We will do an opportunity analysis and create a way to track your successes and contributions to your current organization and to the larger philanthropic community.
We will explore what drives and motivates each of us and how we progress toward our ultimate professional objectives. We will identify the value of credentials and professional associations (which can sometimes seem to be in conflict).
Lastly, we will explore self-evaluation and self-awareness in context of intentions and actions. We will discover ways to take ourselves to task, forgiveness, reconciliation and setting new goals. With strategic goals in mind, what are you going to do tomorrow?
As always, each AFP member is encouraged to make specific requests and suggestions in advance for this educational session. To comment, please send an email to: tsnyder@brakeleybriscoe.com.
